veritree: Smoking Leaves to Plant Trees 🌲

Farmer Jane is continuing its work with veritree to help regrow the forest in the Cariboo region of British Columbia, an area deeply impacted by wildfires. Farmer Jane is partnering with WYLD, Budnked, Palmetto, Redecan, Pure Sunfarms, and our supporting sponsor, uFeelu, to support forest restoration efforts through this initiative. The Farmer Jane community has made significant progress— already raising enough funds to plant 13,900 trees! Our goal this Earth Month is to plant 10,000 more trees through this initiative. Every tree planted is a step toward healing our planet, restoring habitats, and supporting those affected by climate change.
In June 2024, our team member Jane visited the Cariboo region with veritree to survey the progress. We’re incredibly proud to be the first cannabis company to partner with veritree, a groundbreaking platform dedicated to environmental restoration. This collaboration marks an exciting step forward for the cannabis industry, showcasing how businesses can actively contribute to rebuilding ecosystems and combating climate change. While we may be the first to join this inspiring initiative, we hope to pave the way for others in the industry to follow. Together, we can amplify our collective impact, restoring the planet one tree at a time. We’re proud to share that by the end of Earth Month 2025, we will have raised enough funds to plant well over 20,000 trees. Restoring at least 10 hectares of land, offsetting a minimum of 18,500 tonnes of CO2 (the equivalent of removing 4340 vehicles from the road for a full year), and creating 80 workdays for planters. This project highlights the power of community and the shared commitment to giving back to Mother Earth. Thank you for being part of this meaningful journey—together, we’re growing a greener future! 🌱

Best known as the driving force behind Tentree’s renowned tree-planting program, veritree has successfully scaled initiatives connecting planting organizations with corporations worldwide. Their mission is bold yet urgent: to restore the planet by planting and verifying one billion trees within the next decade. This ambitious goal reflects their commitment to rebuilding ecosystems, combating climate change, and creating a greener, more sustainable future for future generations.
Rooted in the Prairies
Did you know veritree’s journey began in Regina? In 2006, its founders took their first steps toward restoration by planting 150,000 trees outside the city. Fast forward to 2019, they launched veritree as a platform to expand their impact, enabling businesses to join the mission of restoring the planet. By 2022, their efforts had grown into a remarkable achievement—celebrating the planting of an incredible 100 million trees worldwide.
Why the Cariboo Region?
British Columbia faced devastating wildfires in the summers of 2017, 2018, and 2021, which scorched over 1.3 million hectares of land. These fires burned so intensely that they destroyed forests entirely, leaving the soil scarred and lifeless. Local wildlife lost critical habitats and food sources, while Indigenous communities were deeply impacted, losing traditional hunting grounds and vital resources, threatening their way of life.
Our reforestation efforts are focused on the Cariboo Region of BC, where these fires left significant ecological and cultural damage. By planting a diverse mix of species—such as Douglas-fir, lodgepole pine, Ponderosa pine, hybrid spruce, and western larch—we aim to restore soil health, repair damaged ecosystems, and create habitats that support increased biodiversity. This initiative also provides effective natural carbon sinks to combat climate change. It will take an estimated 13 million trees and years of dedication to restore the area entirely, but we can help these ecosystems thrive again with your support. Together, we’re working to rebuild not just forests but also the livelihoods and futures of local communities.
We recognize that the decisions we make today will influence the future. Therefore, we are dedicated to implementing responsible business practices within the cannabis industry. Additionally, through community initiatives and charitable contributions, we aim to break the stigma surrounding cannabis and promote a more open and informed understanding of this young industry. When you buy Wyld edibles from a Farmer Jane store, you actively contribute to our mission for a greener future. Let’s give Mother Earth the best gift this year.
