This Earth Month, Farmer Jane Cannabis Co. is proud to announce a partnership with veritree with an ambitious goal to plant 10,000 trees by April 2025. To celebrate and kick things off, Farmer Jane is planting 10 trees for every one of its employees. That equals 1,250 trees planted to aid in reforestation efforts in the Cariboo Region in BC, an area devastated by fires that scorched over 1.3 million hectares of land.

Local Roots in Regina
Did you know that the founders of vertiree started their business in Regina in 2006 by planting 150k trees just outside of the city? They started the veritree movement in 2019 as a way to scale their restorative efforts and empower businesses to restore the planet. In 2022 they celebrated 100 million trees planted.
Where and why?
During the summers of 2017, 2018 and 2021, British Columbia, Canada, was devastated by wildfires. The series of wildfires blazed through over 1.3 million hectares of land. The fire reached heights and temperatures intense enough to kill the forest, scarring the soil. Local wildlife’s habitat and food sources were heavily affected, and Indigenous communities also lost their traditional hunting range and food sources, with their way of life threatened.
Our trees will be planted in the Cariboo Region in BC. This initiative will help to repair damaged ecosystems, revitalize habitats, increase biodiversity, and provide effective natural carbon sinks.
Working with our planting partner, Zanzibar, we are restoring the area through reforestation. A variety of species will be planted, including Douglas-fir, lodgepole pine, Ponderosa pine, hybrid spruce, and western larch. With your support, we will help to restore the soil, damaged from burn scars and erosion. The damaged ecosystems will be given a new chance to thrive. The goal of this project is to establish a forest through assisted natural regeneration. It is estimated that it will take approximately 13 million trees and years of hard work to restore Cariboo. With this hard work, the local communities will be able to rebuild their livelihoods and their futures.
By planting 10,000 trees, we will restore 4 hectares of damaged ecosystems, sequester 10,800 tonnes of CO2, and provide 40 work days for tree planters, contributing to a greener and healthier planet.
