Building a Pumpkin Bong: In 4 Steps
Halloween is just around the corner, so it’s time to prep for a spooky celebration and lock in that perfect weed stash! Farmer Jane has got you covered if you’re aiming to add a unique twist to your Halloween fun. We’re here to show you everything you need to know about crafting a homemade pumpkin bong to enjoy your favourite Halloween strains. Here’s what you’ll need:
- A Pumpkin
- A Screwdriver (or something sharp)
- A Glass Down Stem (optional)
- Bowl Piece (optional)
- Knife & Spoon
- A Lighter
- Your Favourite Halloween Strain (A.K.A.Halloweed, check out Part 1)
Step 1: Carve Out a Built-in Bowl
Start by carving a small bowl into one side of the pumpkin. Your goal here is to make a shallow hemisphere cut, as you don’t want to break through the pumpkin’s flesh. Farmer Jane would recommend using a knife to make the initial incision and a spoon to carve out the circular shape. Following your beautifully made carve, take your screwdriver (or something sharp) and poke a tiny hole that goes through the flesh of the pumpkin.
If you have a bowl piece or broken bong, then you can use it for your bowl. Instead of carving out a shallow hole, make a round hole that matches the diameter of the bowl piece and pierces through the meat of the pumpkin. It’s essential to have a tight hole for your bowl piece, as a loose seal will not allow for enough suction, and you won’t be able to take quality hits.
Step 2: Carve Out your Carb
To make a carb, put another small hole on the side of the pumpkin using your screwdriver (or pokey thing). Again, this hole should poke through to the center of the pumpkin.
Step 3: Carve Out your Mouthpiece
To make the mouthpiece, you will need to make another hole. This mouthpiece hole should be poked through on the opposite side of the bowl on the top half of the pumpkin. If you’re unsure as to where to poke all your holes, just picture where they would be located on an actual bong. If you have a glass down stem or broken bong, then you can use it for your mouthpiece to make your pumpkin bong look extra dope.
Step 4: Pack the bowl and light it up!
Grab your favourite lighter and some Halloweed and enjoy the spirit of Halloween smoking out of a pumpkin bong.

Before the party, count how many times the word “jammin’” is used in Bob Marley & The Wailers’ song “Jammin’” (hint: it’s more than a dozen). Roll a joint for each participant, or have everyone bring their own vape or edibles. Start the song, and take a hit, rip, or bite every time the word “jammin’” is sung. For a bonus round, have each person guess the total number of times “jammin’” appears in the lyrics. The closest guess wins the title of honorary Bob Marley for the night!
Spin The Vape
This game is perfect for those who enjoy a mix of physical play and chance. Gather everyone around a table with a vape pen or vaporizer at the center. The first player spins the pen, then asks a question to the person the mouthpiece points to when it stops. If the spinner likes the answer, both get to vape; if not, only the spinner does, and the recipient takes the next turn, spinning the pen with their non-dominant hand. To spice things up, the recipient can try to persuade the spinner with extra details or actions to earn a shared vape. Repeat as long as you like!
Musical Bong
Pass an empty hand pipe or bong around the group while music plays, similar to the childhood game “hot potato.” Choose someone to control the music and blindfold them, so they can’t see who’s holding the pipe/bong when the music stops. Whoever is holding the pipe when the music halts gets to take a bong rip. For a quicker version, you can have everyone except the person holding the pipe take a rip when the music stops. A bong or pipe that is Halloween-themed makes the game even more fun!
